December 2005 BEIKS announces new version of Noah Bible Study Viewer - the first BlackBerry application dedicated to Bible studies Tuesday, December 13 2005 Noah Bible study viewer is similar to what one can find on other mobile platforms - a generic Bible viewer with ability to load and operate multiple books, navigate quickly within a book, add bookmarks, notes etc. Initially developed in response to popular user demand, the Noah Bible study viewer was the first application to address the needs of the Christian community on the BlackBerry mobile platform in a professional manner. This fully offline solution will let you install and carry any combination of the available Bible translations into your BlackBerry, making them available anywhere you go, coverage or not. Get public domain Bible translations like KJV, ASV, the Spanish Reina-Valera translation and more for free! The new version 2 of Noah Bible Viewer is substantially different under the hood than the older version. For a starter, it requires BlackBerry OS version 4 or higher in order to install at all. New application features like color output, notes under line, over-the-air download, ability to select the output font size, quick book/chapter/verse navigation via direct keyboard entry, unification of KJV and ASV Old Testament and New Testament books into one volume and introduction of some new public domain translations. Perhaps one of the biggest benefits of the new version 2.0 to end users is the ability to offer more modern and complex Bible translations like the New International Version, the New King James Version, the Message and others. Noah Bible Viewer can be downloaded from http://www.beiks.com/rim/bible.asp - trial version downloads are free and let you evaluate the application for full 10 days! The registration is only $19.95. Registered users: the upgrade to version 2 is a commercial upgrade with the exception of users who have bought the viewer in the 30 days prior to the release of the new version. Those are automatically upgraded in the BEIKS database. All other customers are offered a significant upgrade discount and, should they decide to upgrade, should do that by logging on in the MYSTUFF area of the BEIKS website and following the upgrade link under their original order. The new Noah Bible Viewer 2 could not read Bible translations for the old 1.x versions and vice versa. Even more, the new and the old versions of Noah Bible Viewer will not co-exist nicely on the same BlackBerry. That also means all bookmarks created with the previous viewer will be lost upon installing the new one. While the installer of the version 2 will try to automatically uninstall the older application module from the BlackBerry Desktop Manager, it is highly recommended that you manually uninstall the older viewer and modules before installing the new version! We would like to thank all who participated in the survey. The results of this survey will help us understand Pocket PC users and their needs better. This year we have the exciting opportunity to compare the results of the two surveys and understand what changes are occuring within the Pocket PC community. Our desire is for everyone to see the up-to-date situation in the Pocket PC world. Therefore, we are publishing the comparative statistical results of the two surveys. Spb Surveys are an important part of Spb's strategy to give back to the Pocket PC community and the results have been as highly appreciated by developers and manufacturers as they have been by users. All survey participants have been entered into a drawing to win an i-Mate JasJar. The winner is Paolo Animato! The following are some of the more interesting Spb Pocket PC Survey results. Please note that this survey shows the image of an average "Pocket PC community user", a user who has access to the Internet and visits Pocket PC related web sites and forums. The average age of survey respondents is about 33 years, which is two years less than the previous year. Occupation has not changed much, but we do see more students among the active Pocket PC users. The most popular Pocket PC brands are, again, HP iPAQ [29%] and Dell Axim [24%]. Our respondents have been using their Pocket PCs for a little bit longer than 2 years and more than half have previously used Palm devices. An overwhelming majority [94%] of Pocket PC users have purchased accessories for their devices, the most popular being: - Memory card [85%]. The most popular are 1GB Secure Digital Cards. The average card size is 1.16 GB (!), compared with 341 MB last year! - Screen protectors [69%] - Cases [63%] - Stylus [40%] - GPS [36%] The question "What do you use your Pocket PC for?" gave the following results: - Organizer [85%] - Browsing the Internet [70%] - Listening to Music [69%] - Games [65%] - Emails [64%] - Using the Pocket PC as a phone grew from 14% to 36%! In fact, phone functionality is considered to be much more important than a year ago. When choosing a Pocket PC device, 16% of respondents said they pay attention to the phone functionality (only 6% last year), which makes this the second most important characteristic. 77% of Pocket PC users have ever purchased Pocket PC software. The most popular types of programs are: - System Utilities [82%] - File Explorer [67%] - Video [66%] - Office [57%] - Travel and Maps [54%] - Picture Viewer [54%] - Music [52%] - The full comparative results of Spb Pocket PC Survey 2004 and 2005 are available at: http://www.spbsoftwarehouse.com/about/pressreleases/docs/spbsurvey2005.html *** About Spb Software House *** Spb Software House is a software development company, specializing mainly in Windows Mobile software for Pocket PCs.
