WildHeartRanch.com Features Free Online Gaming with ‘Armadillo Cowboy Club’ Arcade Game  Tuesday, March 22 2005

WildHeartRanch.com Features Free Online Gaming with ‘Armadillo Cowboy Club’ Arcade Game

POINT ROBERTS, WA, March 22, 2005 – Wild Heart Ranch, Inc. a content driven children’s toy and publishing company continues to offer non-violent entertainment to all with its free, online ‘Armadillo Cowboy Club’ arcade game.

The game is based on an original story about three Armadillo Deputy heroes that capture criminal coyotes with slingshots, firing bees, and fast flying lassos. The ‘Armadillo Cowboy Club’ arcade game provides a great outlet for online entertainment and a glimpse into the romanticized “wild west”. The game takes you into desert scenes, an old fashioned street shoot out and a saloon fight.

Story excerpt:
Everything in Coyote Canyon is dusty, dirty and & slow. Nothing looks new, just weathered with layers of dirt and dust. But none is dustier, dirtier or more mean looking than the local sheriff, "Sam the Rattler". He has folks shivering at the sound of his tail as it rat-a-tat-tats all over town. No one really knows what is in the end of his tail. Some say it is a bank robber with a bag full of gold coins that was just too stubborn to be digested. But even Sam didn’t know his tail was a lot more special than just having a rascally robber rattling around.

Sam’s tale is as interesting as his tail, as to how he got to be named Sheriff. Sam used to be just an ordinary big, nasty rattlesnake living in the desert on the outskirts of town. He minded his own business and ate the odd neighbor, just like any other snake. He had no dream of being a sheriff or running a town. He dreamt of eating everyone in town, but that’s about as far as it went. I guess that sheriff’s badge had other plans, because it seemed to be waiting for him in Coyote Canyon as he slithered around in the hot sand. It must have been his voracious appetite for villains that led him to his destiny. Or maybe it was his tail that made him shakes, rattle and roll his way to fame.

Beiks announces Noah Bible Study Viewer - the first BlackBerry application dedicated to Bible studies  Monday, March 21 2005

The long anticipated and twice postponed release was actually initiated and strongly monitored by the BlackBerry user community and the Beiks customers in particular.

"A lot of people had discovered BlackBerries can do much more than what they do best - send and receive email, and started demanding it. Beiks was the first company in the world to offer complete offline reference solutions for the BlackBerry platform and I think users just saw the connection; if you can put a large dictionary on a BlackBerry then you can put any e-Book too. Particularly the most popular book in the world.", said Bobby Kolev, president of Beiks.

Noah Bible study viewer is similar to what one can find on other mobile platforms - a generic Bible viewer with ability to load and operate multiple books, navigate quickly within a book, add bookmarks, notes etc.

The product has been heavily tested with a dedicated group of beta users prior to its official release.

The viewer is free to download and test for 10 days, at its full capabilities. It costs $19.95 to register.

Some of the Bible translations made available for it are free, like all most or all public domain Bible translations. At the initial viewer release Beiks has made available the popular KJV and ASV translations; others are expected to be converted and made available soon.

Copyrighted Bible translations like NIV, NASB and NKJV may require separate registration, if and when they become available.

Beiks is working with publishers and application developers from the Christian studies field to provide BlackBerry users with what they demand - by obtaining or granting licensing and know-how.

Studycard Studio 2.4 Adds Palm OS Companion Application  Sunday, March 20 2005

Studycard Studio 2.4 Adds Palm OS Companion Application

Create Flashcards on Mac OS, Study on Palm OS

Digital Meadow today announced the release of Studycard Studio 2.4, the latest update to its multimedia flashcard application for Mac OS. Studycard Studio 2.4 becomes the first and only product in its class to offer a companion study application for the Palm OS(R) platform. The software allows students and educators to create flashcards or quizzes on Mac OS, then study them on Palm Powered(TM) handhelds.

With Studycard Studio and the mobility offered by a handheld, users can study while walking to class, riding the bus, exercising, or lying in bed. The on-screen buttons map to the device's physical buttons, allowing users to study flashcards without a stylus, using one hand. Using the timed study options, interaction is unnecessary.

Users can study on Palm OS using the same study methods and options available on Mac OS. The application supports Flip, Quiz, and Slide Show study methods. Users can customize the methods with options to skip learned cards, show answer previews, learn groups of cards at a time, use time limits, shuffled or sequential order, and swapped questions and answers. Users classify cards by category and difficulty levels and then study only the cards they want to study. Studycard Studio includes features shown to reduce study time and improve retention, including automatic daily scheduling based on the Leitner cardfile system.

With fill-in-the-blank, multiple choice, multiple answer, and true/false questions, users can create quizzes for a variety of material. Users can create tutorials by adding informative explanations to follow wrong or correct answers.

Cards can include an unlimited number of images and fonts in any language, style or color without the user installing additional fonts on their handheld. However, sound, video, speech, and transition effects are featured only on Mac OS.

Studycard Studio offers a unique way to specify questions and answers allowing flexible card design. Sentences can include a fill-in-the-blank directly within the sentence itself. Multiple choice answers can be arranged in rows, columns, or positioned around a picture.

Free Lite Version Available

Studycard Studio Lite 2.4 is available immediately as a free download at www.digitalmeadow.com. In addition to Studycard Studio Lite for Mac OS which supports the Quiz study method with fewer features, the download includes the full Studycard Studio Palm OS companion application.

Diesel eBooks introduces new online test simulator to reduce "Fear Factor" involved with downloading encrypted ebooks  Tuesday, March 15 2005

Diesel eBooks announced today the deployment of a free online tool designed to dramatically reduce the uncertainty of downloading an encrypted ebook. Visitors are now able to certify their computer upfront by downloading a sample encrypted ebook at no charge. The test ebooks are available in three different versions according to reader format including Adobe Reader, Microsoft Reader and Palm/eReader.

L. Scott Redford, President of Diesel eBooks http://www.diesel-ebooks.com, states, "Downloading an encrypted ebook for the first time can be intimidating. While this fear has been a barrier to some in expanding their reading collection to ebooks, our hope is this free tool will take the fear out of the equation and create confidence in a smooth transaction."

Alexander Turcic, editor of the popular online community Mobileread http://www.mobileread.com, welcomes the new feature by Diesel eBooks: "In a perfect world, publishers would choose to distribute their best-sellers without DRM protection, and all customers would behave themselves and never pirate copyright-protected material. As long as we haven't reached this state yet, Diesel eBooks DRM simulator is a fast and effective alternative helping newbies to learn more about the advantageous use of digital books."

Digital Rights Management, the technology used by ebook publishers to protect author's works from being illegally duplicated, has long been a double edged sword. While it has provided publishers and author’s confidence in distributing their product in digital form, it has complicated the process of purchasing an ebook and even deterred some consumers from ebooks altogether. It is these consumers Diesel is hoping to serve with the test download by essentially giving them a "try before you buy" experience.

"We've offered free unencrypted ebooks since our start, but that's not the same.” claims Redford. "To truly simulate a download, there has to be Digital Rights Management (DRM), involved. Our test downloads are the real thing so once you get one under your belt you can be confident there won't be a problem when it's time to use the credit card."

Diesel eBooks http://www.diesel-ebooks.com offers over 35,000 popular, professional and academic ebooks in multiple, secure formats including Microsoft, Adobe and Palm Readers. Visitors can make their selection faster using 50 categories and 2,300 sub-categories in addition to a robust search tool.
